Sales Ledger / Credit Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sales Ledger / Credit Controller to join a family‑run finance team in Sandbach, Cheshire. The role involves managing the full invoice‑to‑cash cycle, maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring the smooth operation of the company’s accounts receivable function.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue customer invoices, uploading them to portals where required.
• Contact customers by phone and email to chase overdue payments and ensure timely settlement.
• Investigate and resolve invoice queries in collaboration with customers and internal departments.
• Monitor debtor balances and perform credit and risk assessments using internal systems.
• Answer and direct incoming calls for the main office.
• Provide general finance administration support, including scanning documents, posting purchase invoices and setting up new supplier and customer accounts.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience in a sales ledger or credit control role.
• At least two years’ hands‑on experience with Sage 50 Accounting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional, confident customer service approach.
• High accuracy, strong organisational ability and capacity to work independently.
• Proactive, analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
