Sales Ledger Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a growing business in Knutsford to hire a Sales Ledger Manager on a permanent basis. The role leads the sales ledger and credit control team, ensuring accurate invoicing, cash collection and compliance with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, train and develop the sales ledger/credit control team; set objectives, monitor performance and conduct regular appraisals.
• Oversee maintenance and accuracy of the sales ledger; ensure timely issuance of sales invoices and credit notes.
• Reconcile customer accounts, resolve discrepancies and allocate daily cash receipts.
• Monitor outstanding balances, follow up overdue accounts and enforce the company’s credit policy.
• Liaise with customers to resolve payment issues, manage disputes and handle legal escalations when required.
• Conduct daily calls with key customers and ensure accounts do not exceed 120‑day retention.
• Prepare weekly and monthly debtor reports and KPIs; support finance with audit preparation and external reporting.
• Contribute to system and process improvements, supporting finance transformation projects and maintaining accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Sales Ledger, Credit Control or Accounts Receivable Manager role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to sales ledger and revenue recognition.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• AAT qualification or equivalent (desirable).

What we offer

• Salary £33,000‑£40,000 dependent on experience.
