School Art Technician (Short‑term Contract)

About the role

Engage Education is recruiting a School Art Technician for a large secondary school in Barking. The position starts in September 2026 and runs until the October half‑term, offering a short‑term, full‑time contract for candidates who enjoy hands‑on support in an educational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare practical equipment, canvases, boards and other materials ahead of lessons.
• Maintain clean, tidy classrooms and store equipment correctly after use.
• Download images from digital cameras and look after photographic equipment.
• Assist teaching staff during lessons and art clubs, providing practical help.
• Ensure substitute teachers have the required resources and equipment for cover lessons.
• Monitor and replenish art supplies, placing orders when stock levels fall.
• Produce photocopies and resource packs to support teachers and pupils.

Required profile

• Experience working as an Art or Design & Technology Technician in a school setting.
• Relevant undergraduate degree in an art‑related subject.
• Practical knowledge of a wide range of art materials and equipment.
• Enthusiasm for working with young people and supporting the art department.
