School Attendance Officer – Manchester Enterprise Academy

About the role

The Manchester Enterprise Academy is looking for an experienced School Attendance Officer to join its pastoral team. You will lead efforts to improve student attendance, working closely with pupils, families, staff and external agencies to remove barriers to regular school attendance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and report on student attendance and punctuality.
• Identify attendance concerns and implement timely interventions.
• Engage with parents and carers, including home visits where appropriate.
• Liaise with local authority and other external agencies to support persistent absence.
• Maintain accurate records in the school’s management information system and produce reports for senior leaders.
• Promote a culture of excellent attendance across the academy and support safeguarding procedures related to attendance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a school attendance or pastoral role.
• Strong knowledge of attendance legislation, guidance and best practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and resilient.
