About the role
The School Behaviour Support Assistant will work in a supportive East London school, helping pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. You will collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and families to create a safe, structured learning environment where every child can thrive.
Key responsibilities
- Build positive relationships with pupils and promote a calm classroom atmosphere.
- Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies and individualized interventions.
- Deliver targeted activities that develop emotional regulation, confidence and resilience.
- Assist teachers in monitoring pupil progress and adjusting support plans as needed.
- Contribute to a team‑based approach, sharing observations and feedback with staff.
Required profile
- Compassionate, patient and proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills with children, staff and families.
- Experience in education, youth work, care or behaviour support is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Willingness to engage in continuous training and professional development.
Required skills
- Basic understanding of SEMH challenges and behaviour support techniques.
