School Business Manager – Lambeth

About the role

The school is seeking an experienced School Business Manager to join the senior leadership team on a fixed‑term, full‑time basis. You will be responsible for the smooth operation of a large secondary school, ensuring financial stability, compliance and efficient administrative support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting for the school.
• Oversee procurement, supplier contracts and value‑for‑money spending.
• Manage HR administration, recruitment coordination and personnel records.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
• Supervise premises, facilities, health and safety functions.
• Develop and lead administrative and support staff.
• Monitor and improve operational systems, processes and procedures.
• Support school improvement initiatives through effective resource planning.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a School Business Manager, Operations Manager or similar leadership role.
• Strong financial management and budget oversight experience.
• Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
• Proven experience managing teams and multiple operational functions.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of compliance, health and safety and operational governance.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
