School Business Manager (Temporary)

About the role

This temporary position supports the financial and operational management of a vibrant school in the Wirral area. Working closely with the Headteacher and senior staff, you will help ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations and long‑term financial stability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and report on the school’s budget, providing financial insight to the Headteacher and Governors.
• Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee procurement processes, contract management and asset administration.
• Manage HR functions including recruitment, staff development and maintenance of the Single Central Record.
• Support community engagement initiatives to raise the school’s profile.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in business or financial management.
• Experience working within a school environment and familiarity with school finance systems.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent analytical, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Proactive, flexible and resilient approach to work.
