School Caretaker – Hackney (Full‑time, Temp)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated caretaker to join a vibrant school near Hackney, East London. The role is hands‑on and focused on maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lock up the site, set the alarm and conduct weekly fire‑alarm checks.
• Perform general repairs, unblock sinks and toilets, and fix door and window handles.
• Carry out painting, decorating, replace toilet seats, install shelves and pin boards.
• Conduct daily health‑and‑safety checks and oversee contractors to ensure standards are met.
• Provide porterage services, move furniture, deliver parcels and replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels and hand sanitizer.
• Maintain school grounds, sweep leaves, empty bins and perform any additional duties as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a caretaker or maintenance role is preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and handle various handyperson duties.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
