School Caretaker

About the role

We are looking for a reliable and proactive caretaker to join our friendly school community in Bushey, ensuring the premises are safe, clean and well‑maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site each day.
• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and general handyman duties.
• Keep the school grounds clean, safe and presentable.
• Perform health and safety checks and maintain related records.
• Support and monitor contractors working on site.
• Set up rooms and equipment for assemblies, events and meetings.
• Manage deliveries and maintain site security.
• Assist with emergency call‑outs when required.
• Help maintain a welcoming environment for all.

Required profile

• Experience in caretaking, site management, facilities or maintenance work.
• Practical, organised and able to work independently.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Trustworthy, flexible and dependable.
• Ability to respond calmly to unexpected situations.
