School Caretaker / Site Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a reliable School Caretaker / Site Supervisor to oversee the day‑to‑day operation of our Alternative Provision campuses in Burnley and Barnoldswick. The role is hands‑on, ensuring a safe, clean and secure environment for pupils outside mainstream education.

Key responsibilities

• Act as primary keyholder, opening the site each morning and securing it each evening.
• Carry out minor DIY tasks, basic repairs and building troubleshooting promptly.
• Perform statutory health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting inspections and legionella monitoring.
• Maintain site hygiene and manage grounds work such as litter picking, winter gritting and general upkeep.
• Supervise external contractors and assist with classroom set‑ups and school events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in basic repairs, building maintenance or a related trade.
• Calm, level‑headed demeanor with the ability to handle challenging situations.
• Physically capable of moving between indoor and outdoor tasks.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide professional references.
