School Catering Assistant

About the role

Saltford CofE Primary School is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join its busy school kitchen. This part‑time position offers 15 hours per week during term time, plus four inset days, and starts as soon as possible. You will help deliver a high‑quality food service for pupils and staff while working within a supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing, cooking and serving meals in line with the school’s food standards.
• Maintain excellent hygiene, safety and presentation throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Support the catering team with cleaning, stock management and record‑keeping.

Required profile

• Energetic, enthusiastic and proud of their work.
• Friendly, polite and enjoys working with children.
• Reliable, well‑organised and able to maintain high personal standards.
• Flexible, positive and a strong team player.

Required skills

• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Good understanding of hygiene, safety and food presentation.
