School Cleaners & Kitchen Assistants (Part‑time, Temp)

About the role

Berry Recruitment is looking for reliable individuals to join a pool of agency cleaners and kitchen assistants for schools in Darlington and nearby areas. The roles are temporary, on‑as‑required basis, ideal for those who need flexible, part‑time hours that fit around other commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Vacuum and mop classroom floors and corridors.
• Clean and disinfect toilets, washrooms and high‑touch surfaces such as door handles and light switches.
• Tidy classrooms, staff rooms and empty bins.
• Dust and wipe desks, surfaces and equipment.
• Prepare simple food items and assist in the school kitchen.
• Wash pots, utensils and clean kitchen worktops.

Required profile

• Previous experience in cleaning or kitchen environments is preferred.
• A full UK driving licence and own transport are desirable but not mandatory.
• Ability to work shifts between 9:30 am‑1:30 pm and 3:30 pm‑5:30 pm, Monday‑Friday.
• Willingness to hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate (or obtain one).

Required skills

• Vacuuming and mopping.
• Basic food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
• Use of cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.

What we offer

• £12.71 per hour, paid weekly.
