School Cook / Catering Officer (Full‑time, Term‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a passionate School Cook / Catering Officer to join an Alternative Provision school in Barnoldswick. The role starts in September 2026 and offers daytime, Monday‑to‑Friday hours during term time only, with no evenings or weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare creative, nutritious menus that meet dietary guidelines and individual requirements.
• Manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring high‑quality food service for pupils.
• Maintain strict hygiene and safety standards in line with Food Safety Legislation, including daily cleaning and weekly deep cleans.
• Control budget and stock, monitor waste, and ensure cost‑effective procurement.
• Support the school community by attending open days, parent evenings, and student initiatives such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Required profile

• Level 3 Food Safety certification or NVQ equivalent.
• Proven experience in a fast‑paced kitchen environment (school, care home, contract catering or hospitality).
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
• Understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to a safe, supportive school culture.
