School Cook – Part‑time, Temporary

About the role

We are looking for a reliable School Cook to join a busy primary or high school kitchen in Edinburgh. The role is part‑time, typically 24 hours per week, and runs on a term‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals for pupils.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety.
• Complete food safety records and kitchen compliance checks.
• Receive deliveries, store stock, manage rotation and assist with ordering.
• Serve meals and support school events as required.
• Carry out general kitchen duties, including cleaning and manual handling.

Required profile

• Previous cooking experience, preferably in a school or similar catering environment.
• Relevant catering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and health & safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced setting.
