School Cook – Redruth (Full‑time)

About the role

The school in Redruth is seeking an experienced cook to prepare nutritious meals for pupils. This temporary position may become permanent for the right candidate and offers a supportive environment within the school community.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals in line with nutritional standards.
• Plan menus that accommodate dietary requirements and allergens.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness, and safety.
• Monitor stock levels, conduct stock checks and minimise waste.
• Carry out routine cleaning of kitchen equipment and report any faults.
• Work within agreed budgets and collaborate with school staff.
• Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Cook or Catering Assistant, preferably in a school or similar setting.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Knowledge of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Ability to prepare meals for varying dietary requirements.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Two satisfactory references covering the last two years of employment.
• Right to work in the UK.
