School Data and MIS Officer

About the role

We are seeking a School Data and MIS Officer to join our inclusive, forward‑thinking school in central London. You will be responsible for maintaining the school’s Management Information System and turning data into insight that drives improvement across teaching, attendance and behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise the school’s MIS (e.g., Arbor), ensuring data accuracy, system functionality and compliance.
• Produce, analyse and report on student performance, attendance and behaviour data.
• Support target setting, assessment tracking and internal reporting cycles.
• Coordinate statutory returns, including the School Census and DfE data submissions.
• Provide training and ongoing support to staff on MIS usage and data interpretation.
• Assist with curriculum data management, timetabling support and student enrolments.
• Ensure GDPR compliance and promote best practices in data protection and management.

Required profile

• Significant experience working in a school environment.
• Previous responsibility for managing a school MIS, preferably Arbor.
• Strong analytical and reporting abilities, with a high attention to detail.
• Proactive problem‑solving approach and ability to collaborate with staff, governors and external partners.
• Understanding of GDPR and data confidentiality requirements.
• Genuine interest in using data to improve outcomes for young people.
