School Maintenance & Caretaker – Ealing & Hayes

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Maintenance Worker/Caretaker to support two school sites in Ealing and Hayes. The role ensures a safe, clean and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors, and may include occasional minibus driving for school activities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and decorating across both school buildings.
• Perform routine inspections of structures, grounds and equipment to ensure safety and good condition.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Assist with set‑up of rooms and facilities for school events.
• Maintain security by locking and unlocking premises as required.
• Monitor, report and follow up on maintenance issues.
• Liaise with external contractors and support planned maintenance works.
• Undertake basic grounds maintenance to keep outdoor areas tidy and safe.
• Occasionally drive the school minibus for educational visits, sports events or other activities.
• Comply with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies and school procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a maintenance, caretaking or facilities role.
• Practical ability to perform basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and general repairs.
• Good problem‑solving skills and the capacity to work independently across two sites.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Full, clean UK driving licence; willingness to drive a minibus (training provided if needed).
• Understanding of health and safety practices in an educational setting is desirable.
