School Minibus Driver – Dorchester & Weymouth

About the role

Dorset Community Transport (DCT) is looking for part‑time drivers to provide safe home‑to‑school journeys for pupils in Dorchester and Weymouth, including mainstream and SEN schools. Drivers may also transport community groups and vulnerable individuals, delivering a door‑to‑door service with care and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Collect passengers from their homes or designated pick‑up points and transport them to schools, shopping centres or other destinations.
• Assist passengers with boarding, mobility aids and shopping, ensuring safe arrival at the destination.
• Perform vehicle safety and defect checks, record mileage and complete required paperwork.
• Work with Passenger Assistants where required and follow all safety and safeguarding procedures.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence (category D1 or D1+101) with no more than 6 penalty points and no drink‑driving convictions.
• Age 21 + and own private transport to reach the depot.
• Extensive driving experience, ability to plan routes and handle manual tasks such as assisting wheelchair users.
• Good verbal communication, reliable, punctual and presentable.

Required skills

• MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training, including wheelchair safety and disability awareness.
• Vehicle inspection and basic record‑keeping (mileage, passenger lists, cash handling).

What we offer

• £13.09 per hour plus holiday pay, with a minimum guarantee of 16 hours per week.
