School Premises Officer / Caretaker

About the role

We are looking for an experienced School Premises Officer / Caretaker to join our friendly community in Lewisham. The role involves maintaining a safe, clean and well‑functioning school environment for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day premises management and building maintenance.
• Carry out routine inspections and repairs, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
• Manage waste, cleaning schedules and security of the school site.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and health‑safety documentation.
• Respond promptly to any incidents or urgent repairs.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a school premises officer, caretaker or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety procedures and COSHH regulations.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and organise tasks effectively.
• Good communication skills for interacting with staff, students and external contractors.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification is preferred.
