School Receptionist – Front Desk & Administration

About the role
We are looking for a friendly and professional School Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our Academy. You will ensure a welcoming, safe and secure environment for visitors, students, staff and external agencies while providing essential administrative support.
Key responsibilities
- Greet, assist and direct visitors, managing gate entry‑systems and ensuring a secure entry.
- Answer telephone calls, handle external communication with parents and carers, and manage post, letters and texts.
- Monitor the Academy’s camera system to support safeguarding of students and staff.
- Oversee student receptionists and provide cover when needed.
- Organise tours, manage lost property, and maintain the reception area and community board.
- Perform typing, spreadsheet work and assist the Attendance Officer with attendance records.
- Create staff badges for events and act as a First Aider on the staff duty rota.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a similar receptionist role within a school or large organisation.
- Professional manner with excellent telephone and communication skills.
- Adaptable, calm and friendly personality with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to an inclusive ethos and understanding of secondary school systems.
