School Sports Coach

About the role
The Education Network is recruiting enthusiastic Sports Coaches/Graduates to work across a range of secondary schools in Durham. You will deliver supervised sports sessions, support pupils aged 11‑18, and help maintain a positive learning environment while gaining valuable teaching experience.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise classes, introduce lessons, and close sessions in the absence of the permanent teacher.
- Take attendance and complete class registers.
- Maintain constructive classroom management and promote a positive atmosphere.
- Ensure pupils stay on task, complete preset work, and minimise distractions.
- Assist students with questions and provide appropriate support.
- Follow lesson outlines, collect completed work and resources.
- Adhere to school policies, handle emergencies, and report feedback to the class teacher.
Required profile
- Minimum 6 months experience working with students aged 11‑18.
- Enthusiastic, passionate about education, and able to work independently.
- At least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
Required skills
- Strong classroom management.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and school procedures.
- Effective communication with pupils and staff.
