About the role

School Support Staff are required across secondary schools in St Helens. The role covers positions such as Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Classroom Support Assistant and SEN Teaching Assistant, with long‑term, temporary and daily supply opportunities starting in September.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson preparation.
• Provide targeted learning support to pupils, including those with special educational needs.
• Help manage student behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
• Supervise students during breaks, trips and other school activities.
• Support the delivery of individualized education plans and behaviour interventions.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a school setting or a graduate considering teacher training.
• Professional experience supporting young people.
