About the role
The School Transport Assistant works from the depot in EH16 4BB, providing safe and supportive travel for children to and from school. This is an ongoing temporary position with an immediate start, offering a minimum of 20 hours per week on split shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Assist and supervise children during their journey, creating a safe, calm, and positive travel experience.
- Coordinate with drivers, school staff, and parents to ensure clear communication and meet each child’s needs.
- Help children safely board and alight the vehicle, including those using mobility aids or specialised equipment.
Required profile
- Empathy and patience when working with children, especially those with additional support needs.
- Reliability and punctuality to build trust with families.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with children, families, and team members.
Required skills
- PVG Certificate (or willingness to obtain one, cost £59 for new applicants).
What we offer
- Hourly rate of £14.27.
- Minimum 20 hours per week on split shifts.
- Ongoing temporary contract with immediate start.
