Science Graduate Learning Mentor (Teaching Support)

About the role

We are seeking a recent science graduate with a 2:1 or above to join an outstanding secondary school in South Leeds as a Science Graduate Learning Mentor. This term‑time position offers hands‑on classroom experience, supporting your pathway towards a PGCE.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one science interventions during school hours, Monday‑Friday.
• Provide classroom support and run small‑group science sessions for KS3 and KS4.
• Plan and prepare lesson materials for intervention sessions.
• Track pupil progress and produce attainment reports.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and teaching staff to enhance learning outcomes.

Required profile

• 2:1 or higher in a UK science‑related degree.
• Strong passion for science and supporting young learners.
• Commitment to becoming a qualified teacher (PGCE planned).
• Good A‑Levels and GCSEs.
• Previous tutoring or coaching experience is advantageous.

Required skills

• Ability to design and deliver targeted science interventions.
• Proficiency in tracking and reporting student progress.
• Effective communication with pupils and staff.

• Paid rate of £460‑£560 per week (approximately £110‑£120 per day).
• Term‑time only contract, starting September.
