Science Learning Support Assistant (Primary/SEN)

About the role

We are recruiting a Science Learning Support Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit in Morden, starting September 2026. The role supports students during science lessons, helping them engage with practical activities and achieve academic and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to students in science lessons.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, practical science activities.
• Encourage student participation, confidence and academic progress.
• Build positive relationships and rapport with students.
• Support pupils with SEMH, SEND and behavioural needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Assist with classroom and behaviour management strategies.
• Support practical science sessions while following health and safety guidelines.

Required profile

• A science qualification, degree or relevant science experience.
• Strong ability to build rapport and positive relationships with students.
• Effective behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Genuine passion for education and supporting learners.

Required skills

What we offer

• Full‑time, term‑time only contract.
• Daily rate of £95–£115, dependent on experience.
• Opportunity to gain experience in a specialist PRU setting.
