Science & PE Teacher (Part‑time, SEN Specialist)

About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Science & PE Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Ilford. The role is part‑time, term‑time only, and involves delivering engaging lessons to pupils aged 11‑19 with a range of additional needs.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Science and PE lessons tailored to individual abilities and needs.
- Adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for pupils with Autism, SEMH, SLD and related difficulties.
- Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional and physical development.
- Maintain a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
- Manage behaviour in line with school policies.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and wider school staff.
- Monitor, assess and record student progress.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience teaching Science and/or PE at secondary level.
- Understanding of SEN, Autism, SEMH or related learning needs is desirable.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Positive, resilient and proactive attitude.
Required skills
What we offer
- Day rate of £150‑£170 (depending on experience).
- Part‑time, term‑time schedule (Mon‑Thu, 8:30‑15:30).
