Science Teacher – Secondary Schools (South Tyneside)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join secondary schools across South Tyneside. The role can start ASAP or from September 2026 and may be full‑time, permanent or long‑term temporary, depending on your preference.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Science lessons in Biology, Chemistry and Physics for Key Stages 3 and 4, with optional A‑Level support.
• Plan and execute practical experiments safely, adhering to health and safety protocols.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet mixed‑ability learners and support student progress.
• Collaborate with the Science department to share resources and best practice.
• Lead or support extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, revision sessions or science fairs.

Required profile

• Qualified Science teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent) with a specialism in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
• Experience teaching the national Science curriculum and preparing students for GCSE (and potentially A‑Level) examinations.
• Passion for hands‑on, inquiry‑based learning and a commitment to student development.
• Team‑player attitude, willing to contribute to departmental and school life.
