Second Chef – Care Home (Bedlington)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Second Chef to join our care home in Bedlington. You will work alongside the Head Chef to create nutritious, seasonal menus for our residents while enjoying a balanced work‑life schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in menu development and daily food preparation.
• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Prepare fresh, seasonal dishes to hotel‑standard quality.
• Maintain stock control, conduct regular audits and work within budget.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP and other food safety standards.

Required profile

• Warm, personable approach with a genuine interest in resident wellbeing.
• City & Guilds, NVQ or SVQ (or equivalent) culinary qualification.
• Good understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal produce.
• Confidence engaging with residents to tailor menus.
