Second Chef – Care Home (Whitchurch, Bristol)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Second Chef to join our care home kitchen in Whitchurch, Bristol. You will work with fresh seasonal produce, support the Head Chef and help deliver hotel‑standard meals while providing a warm, person‑centred hospitality experience for our residents.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Assist in menu development and create nutritious, flavourful dishes.
• Work with fresh produce to maintain high‑quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, efficient and welcoming kitchen environment.
• Work within budget, conduct regular audits and manage stock control.

Required profile

• Personable, warm approach with genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
• City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent culinary qualification.
• Good understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal food.
• Confidence engaging with residents to tailor menus.
• Good understanding of HACCP food‑safety standards.
