Secondary Cover Teacher

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic and dependable individuals to join secondary schools across Chelmsford as Cover Teachers starting in September 2026. This temporary, full‑time position offers the chance to gain hands‑on experience in a variety of local schools while supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Support students' academic progress and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Maintain a calm, positive classroom environment and manage behaviour effectively.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure smooth lesson transitions and consistent learning.
• Build confidence and teaching skills by working in real classroom settings.

Required profile

• Comfortable leading groups and encouraging student participation.
• Clear communicator, adaptable, and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Reliable, enthusiastic, and passionate about helping students succeed.
• Capable of delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects.
