Secondary English Teacher – The Wirral – September Start

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Secondary English Teacher to join a range of schools across The Wirral from September. The role offers flexible daily supply, short‑term cover or longer block placements, allowing you to balance work‑life commitments while delivering high‑quality English lessons.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with occasional KS5 opportunities).
• Step into different English departments on short notice, providing seamless cover for absences.
• Monitor student progress, give constructive feedback and inspire a love of reading and creative writing.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment using effective behaviour management strategies.

Required profile

• Degree in English, Creative Writing or a related subject.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Career Teacher (ECT) status.
• Experience teaching the UK secondary English curriculum.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to make complex texts accessible to all abilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
