Secondary Maths Teacher – SEMH Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Secondary Maths Teacher to join a South Liverpool special school for boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging mathematics lessons and support pupils in achieving academic and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality mathematics curriculum for secondary students.
• Create a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Apply adaptive teaching methods and trauma‑informed strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Manage behaviour effectively using restorative approaches.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and interventions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to support pupils’ emotional and mental health.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England.
• Proven experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management capabilities.
• Understanding of SEMH needs, trauma‑informed practice and restorative approaches.
• Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable pupils.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and emotional intelligence.
