Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant (Full/Part Time)

About the role

Veritas Education is recruiting enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in Burnley secondary schools. You will work with students aged 11‑16, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals. The role starts immediately and offers both full‑time and part‑time options.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for students with SEN.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, accessible lessons.
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in learning.
• Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
• Monitor student progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN in schools or similar settings.
• Patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, SEN, psychology, or youth work (desirable but not essential).
