Secondary Subject Specialist Teacher – Brighton & Sussex

About the role

We are partnering with a range of well‑regarded secondary schools across Brighton and the wider Sussex area to recruit passionate subject specialist teachers. The role involves delivering high‑quality lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5 where applicable) and contributing to the overall success of the school community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
• Use strong subject expertise to stretch and challenge learners.
• Track student progress and provide effective, constructive feedback.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Contribute to departmental meetings and whole‑school development initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Strong academic background in the chosen subject specialism.
• Experience teaching in a UK secondary setting, including placements for early‑career teachers.
• Confident classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing and inclusive practice.

Required skills

• Deep subject expertise in one of the listed specialisms (e.g., English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, Computer Science/ICT, Design & Technology, Business/Economics, PE, Art, Music, Drama).
