Secondary Teaching Assistant

About the role

This position is for a Secondary Teaching Assistant in a special‑education (SEN) school in Greenwich, SE18. You will support pupils who need additional help with reading, writing and task breakdown, while also contributing to pastoral and behavioural support.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside teachers, therapists and other support staff to deliver tailored learning activities.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are safe and appropriate for student use.
• Prepare and tidy learning activities and resources.
• Build positive relationships with children to maintain an optimal learning environment.
• Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately.

Required profile

• A genuine desire to work with children with special educational needs.
• Caring, compassionate and resilient nature with a proactive ‘can‑do’ attitude.
• Eligibility to undergo a DBS check and not be barred from working with children.
• GCSE grades A*-C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
