Section Engineer – Major Infrastructure Project

About the role

You will own a critical section of one of the UK’s largest multi‑billion‑dollar heavy civil engineering mega‑projects. Working in a fast‑paced Tier 1 environment, you will lead a team of Site Engineers, coordinate subcontractors and ensure the project programme translates into safe, on‑time physical delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Section Leadership – manage, mentor and organise Site Engineers to maintain engineering control.
• Subcontractor Delivery – oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring work meets design specifications and safety standards.
• Look‑Ahead Programming – plan short‑term resources, plant and materials to achieve weekly and monthly milestones.
• Temporary Works – act as Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator, managing permits and safe implementation.
• HSEQ Governance – review and approve RAMS, manage ITPs and champion a zero‑harm site culture.

Required profile

• Proven Tier 1/2 experience on heavy civils, structures, earthworks or highways.
• Demonstrated progression from Senior Site Engineer to Section Engineer.
• Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent) with valid SMSTS and CSCS cards.
• Strong commercial awareness, robust technical knowledge and confident site presence.
