Section Engineer – Wastewater Construction

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Section Engineer to join the Thames Water East Hyde STW team in East Hyde, Bedfordshire. The role bridges design and construction, providing engineering support and ensuring technical compliance with design specifications on wastewater projects.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret design documentation and ensure works follow approved drawings and specifications.
• Manage site setting‑out and surveying activities, resolving design conflicts to minimise delays.
• Coordinate temporary works designs and obtain approvals in line with site requirements and programme.
• Support construction teams with technical queries and drive value‑engineering initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality procedures, and health‑and‑safety requirements.

Required profile

• HNC/HND or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications confidently.
• Practical experience on infrastructure or wastewater construction projects.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Detail‑oriented with solid problem‑solving abilities and technical knowledge.
