Security Engineer (Manchester, Flexible Working)

About the role

Telefónica Tech is seeking a detail‑oriented Security Engineer to join its Manchester team. You will design, implement and maintain security solutions that protect critical infrastructure, data and systems for enterprise and public‑sector customers across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain security infrastructure such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and SIEM platforms.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to uncover weaknesses in networks and applications.
• Analyse security logs and alerts, investigate incidents and provide root‑cause analysis.
• Develop, implement and maintain security policies, hardening standards and compliance documentation.
• Respond to security incidents, contain threats and coordinate remediation activities.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with a methodical approach to problem‑solving.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging security threats, technologies and best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and communicate technical findings clearly.
