Security Officer – Campus Safety

About the role

Birmingham City University is looking for a professional, reliable, and customer‑focused Security Officer to help maintain a safe environment across its multiple campuses. You will be a visible presence, supporting students, staff and visitors while responding to incidents and emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol campus areas and monitor CCTV and other security systems.
• Control access to buildings and manage door supervision duties.
• Respond to incidents, alarms and emergencies, including evacuation procedures.
• Maintain accurate incident records and produce regular reports.
• Liaise with internal teams and external emergency services as required.

Required profile

• Previous security experience or a role with transferable skills.
• GCSE English Language (or equivalent) or comparable qualification.
• Current SIA Security Guarding and/or Door Supervision licence.
