Security Officer – Shift Worker – Kirkcudbright

About the role

The Ministry of Defence Guard Service (MGS) is seeking dedicated Security Officers to protect the Kirkcudbright Training Camp. You will work 48‑hour shift patterns, safeguarding personnel, visitors and critical defence assets on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas on foot or by vehicle, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
• Control site access by checking credentials, issuing passes and escorting visitors.
• Conduct searches of vehicles, baggage and personnel.
• Monitor and operate CCTV, alarm systems and communication devices.
• Respond to incidents, manage risks and escalate breaches as required.
• Assist employees and visitors with courteous, professional support.
• Manage traffic flow and parking to maintain safe site access.
• Maintain accurate security logs and produce detailed incident reports.

Required profile

• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good level of physical fitness for standing, patrolling and rapid response.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
