SEMH Behaviour Support Specialist – Term‑Time (Lambeth)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a specialist alternative provision in Lambeth. It is designed for recent psychology graduates or those with related experience who want hands‑on practice in a trauma‑informed, therapeutic learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small‑group support for students with SEMH challenges and additional learning difficulties.
• Implement positive behaviour strategies, de‑escalation techniques and emotional‑regulation interventions.
• Build trusting relationships to promote engagement, resilience and confidence.
• Support students’ reintegration pathways into mainstream or further‑education settings.
• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary, trauma‑informed team to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Psychology graduate or holder of a related degree (desirable).
• Experience in youth work, support work or SEN settings (advantageous).
• Passion for mental health, SEN and behaviour support.
• Resilient, proactive and emotionally intelligent.
• Committed to making a real difference for vulnerable young people.
