SEMH Maths Tutor – Secondary School (Part‑time)

About the role

TLTP Education is seeking an experienced maths tutor to work on‑site with a small group of secondary‑aged students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role is based in Harlow and runs two hours each weekday, delivering engaging lessons using the White Rose Maths scheme.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver maths lessons to up to eight KS3 and KS4 students, covering standard and Higher GCSE content.
• Adapt White Rose Maths resources to suit individual learning needs and abilities.
• Create a calm, structured classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and progress.
• Monitor student progress, provide feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure consistent behaviour management and support.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring maths to secondary students.
• Confidence delivering KS3, KS4 and Higher GCSE maths.
• Experience supporting learners with SEMH or other additional needs is highly desirable.
• Resilience, patience and a calm, consistent approach to challenging behaviour.
• A teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory.

• Ability to adapt existing curriculum resources.
• Effective communication with young learners.
