SEMH Teaching Assistant & Behaviour Mentor (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant and Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist provision in Southwark. You will work with pupils aged 11‑16 who have social, emotional and mental health needs, supporting them to regulate emotions, improve behaviour and re‑engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.
• Implement and monitor individual behaviour support plans.
• Use de‑escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
• Promote emotional wellbeing and encourage confidence, resilience and independence.
• Act as a positive role model and contribute to a safe, structured learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Familiarity with behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people displaying challenging behaviour.
• Commitment to full‑time work and immediate start.
