SEMH Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support (Guildford)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide behaviour support for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs in a specialist school near Guildford. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to create a safe, structured learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEMH, SEN, ASD or ADHD.
• Assist students in accessing classroom and whole‑school learning activities.
• Build trusting relationships and help pupils develop emotional regulation and wellbeing strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other staff to monitor progress and record behaviour.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging and structured learning environment.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence and access to a car (school location is not served by public transport).
• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, ASD, ADHD or similar needs.
• Calm, patient and emotionally intelligent approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team.
