SEMH Teaching Assistant – Greenwich (Full‑time, Term‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Greenwich. The role starts in September and is term‑time only, offering the chance to work closely with students who need targeted emotional and behavioural support.

Key responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and managing behaviour for students with SEMH needs.
• Implement Individual Education Plans and tailor interventions to each pupil.
• Work independently with small groups or individual students, providing motivation and encouragement.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate progress with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Apply safeguarding, health and safety, and equal‑opportunity policies consistently.

Required profile

• Knowledge of statutory requirements for SEN, safeguarding and health & safety.
• Experience working with challenging behaviour and a range of complex needs (EAL, speech & language, etc.).
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and external contacts.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to plan and deliver activities alongside the teacher.
• Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
