SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary (Full-time, Term-time)

About the role
We are recruiting for a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant at a respected SEMH school in Northenden, Greater Manchester. The role is full‑time, term‑time only, supporting pupils aged 11‑19 with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and social, emotional and mental health needs.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils in the classroom, working one‑to‑one or with small groups.
- Help deliver engaging lessons under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Assist pupils with additional needs, promoting confidence, communication and positive behaviour.
- Provide encouragement and motivation during lessons, activities and on the playground.
- Act as a reliable adult role model, supporting pupils’ social and emotional development.
Required profile
- Experience supporting or mentoring children or young people (e.g., school, youth work, coaching, volunteering).
- Patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent).
- Calm under pressure with a positive outlook and sense of humour.
- Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed.
