Semi Senior Accountant

About the role

We are a fast‑growing accountancy practice in Essex seeking a Semi Senior Accountant to join our team. You will work closely with colleagues to support a varied portfolio of clients, handling compliance, reporting and day‑to‑day accounting tasks while gaining exposure to a broad range of services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, management reports and year‑end accounts for diverse businesses.
• Submit VAT returns, maintain accurate financial records and assist clients with routine accounting matters.
• Build strong client relationships by offering practical guidance and responding to bookkeeping enquiries.
• Support accounting projects and compliance work, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in financial reporting and tax regulations to maintain compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice supporting a varied client base.
• Practical knowledge of preparing financial statements, management accounts and VAT returns.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines accurately.
• Confident communicator who enjoys building positive client relationships.
• AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA/ACA.

Required skills

• Experience with cloud‑based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
