SEN English Teacher – Greenwich

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN English Teacher to deliver English Language and Literature lessons to pupils aged 11‑19 in a specialist setting. The role involves adapting the curriculum to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and supporting pupils with complex needs to develop functional literacy and communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated English lessons tailored to a range of SEN profiles, including autism and severe learning difficulties.
• Adapt curriculum materials and assessments to align with EHCP targets.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents and the multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and other specialists to create a supportive learning environment.
• Maintain classroom management strategies that promote independence and confidence.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England.
• Previous experience teaching English (language and/or literature) to secondary‑age pupils.
• Experience working with pupils who have special educational needs or additional needs is desirable.
• Ability to commute to Greenwich and start immediately.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of English curriculum and assessment standards.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
