SEN Functional Skills Tutor (Maths & English)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate SEN Tutor to deliver Functional Skills Maths and English to learners aged 16‑24 with SEND and EHCPs in High Wycombe. The role blends classroom teaching with workplace coaching, helping young people gain qualifications, confidence and employability skills.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver short, focused Functional Skills Maths and English sessions (Entry Level to Level 2) to small groups.
• Provide 1:1 support and blended learning, both face‑to‑face and occasional remote.
• Accompany learners on local work placements in retail or hospitality, coaching them on workplace skills and independence.
• Facilitate post‑placement reflection sessions to reinforce learning.
• Conduct initial assessments, create action plans and track progress.
• Maintain accurate learner records and manage a caseload.
• Contribute to quality assurance processes and meet performance targets.

Required profile

• Experience delivering or supporting Functional Skills Maths and/or English.
• Background working with young people with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Experience in employability support or job coaching (highly desirable).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• A Level 3 teaching qualification or equivalent is desirable.
