SEN Learning Support Assistant – Flexible Full‑Time Role

About the role

This position supports children and young people with complex Special Educational Needs in a therapeutic educational setting. It is based in High Wycombe and is available for a full academic year or on a flexible casual basis, working with pupils aged 7‑19.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils throughout the school day to access learning successfully.
• Work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver consistent support.
• Encourage communication, independence and positive engagement.
• Assist with classroom activities, practical learning and personalised interventions.
• Help create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
• Support enrichment opportunities and wider school activities where appropriate.
• Provide training for leading classroom activities, curriculum sessions and extracurricular provision.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in education, care or a related setting.
• Previous experience supporting Special Educational Needs.
• Recognised qualifications in SEN, Education or related subjects.
• Current KCSIE training certificate.
• Enhanced DBS check and subscription to the DBS Update Service.
